Hi! I’m Shelly – Mother of 4 and wife of 1. When my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies over 10 years ago, we were completely overwhelmed! I believed the myth that I had to spend a fortune on food and all day in the kitchen to feed my family safe, whole food. All my meals were complicated and focused heavily on substitutions. I was spending 2-3 hours a day in the kitchen and $2000/ month on food ($1200 on groceries and $800 on eating out). Our life and our budget revolved around food!
Several years ago, we decided to get our finances under control and start setting and achieving our financial goals. I knew that reducing our astronomical food bill was the first place I needed to start.
I made a series of incremental, step by step intentional changes over the years to reduce our food bill and the amount of time spent on food. Now, 10 years later, we spend half the amount of money and half the amount of time on food than I used to. We now spend $720/ month on groceries and $300/ month on eating out.
I shaved $12,000/ year off our food costs!!
